20 September 2026 de 10h00 à 12h00
Sunday, September 20, and Sunday, September 27, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Moulin David, 1 Place des Quatre-Vents: a guided tour of France’s oldest hydroelectric plant.
At 11 a.m., a demonstration of the spectacular 1907 Winterthur engine.
Heritage of the past, energy of the future.
The Moulin David, a former wheat mill, was converted into a hydroelectric plant in 1887. For over a century, it supplied electricity to the Société des Bains, which managed the thermal baths and spa hotels.
Decommissioned since 1993, the building was slated for demolition until a group of mechanical and electrical enthusiasts undertook its restoration. After 12 years of volunteer work, they succeeded in restoring the machines to working order, powered by water.
The Divonnelectro association was awarded the 2015 Rhône-Alpes Heritage Prize.
The Moulin David, now the oldest hydroelectric plant in France still in operation at its original site, is contributing to the energy transition by promoting hydroelectric power.
Sunday, September 20, and Sunday, September 27, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.: Guided tour covering the history of the mill and the spa. At 11 a.m., a demonstration of the spectacular 1907 Winterthur engine. Free of charge.
