Rodin and Rilke

The famous Rodin, a leading figure in modern sculpture, at the height of his fame, met Rainer Maria Rilke, a young, penniless poet from Prague, in 1902. Thanks to his wife Clara Westhoff, a student of Rodin’s, Rilke received a commission from a publisher to write a monograph dedicated to Rodin. This led to Rilke’s meeting with Rodin, giving rise to an unprecedented, stimulating, and inspiring partnership between the two men. Are you dying to learn more?
