François Molins served as public prosecutor at the Paris tribunal de grande instance from 2011 to 2018, before ending his career in 2023 as public prosecutor at the Cour de cassation, the highest position in the public prosecutor's office. He became widely known for his handling of terrorist attacks as Paris public prosecutor, including the Merah affair, the Charlie Hebdo attack, as well as those in Nice and Saint-Étienne-du-Rouvray and on the Champs-Élysées. In his book Au nom du peuple français (In the name of the French people), he looks back on his career with an intimate and captivating account that plunges us into the heart of the judicial institution. His integrity and courage have made him a key figure in the judiciary, defending strong, independent justice. He also evokes major politico-financial affairs, such as Bygmalion, Cahuzac and Dupont-Moretti, without ever yielding to pressure from political power. François Molins will be remembered as a familiar face in the fight against terrorism, but also as a tireless defender of the fight against violence against women, environmental protection and the independence of the judiciary.
