Adapting thrillers for the big screen
Conference
Médiathèque Correspondances - Divonne-les-Bains
15 February 2025 de 15h00 à 16h30
Ciné-conférence | Adulte | Saturday, February 15, 3pm | 90 min
French or American thrillers, Maigret or Sherlock Holmes, detectives or assassins, they've all regularly made the transition from page to screen. And we've all discovered literary heroes in the movies, played by Alain Delon, Tom Cruise, Jean Gabin or Matt Damon. We've also loved, or hated, seeing how the literary universe we'd made of a detective story has been adapted into a film. Because if there's one literary genre that's been subjected to adaptation, it's the detective novel! This ciné-conférence will show how filmmakers have gone from the written word to the screen, with numerous film extracts compared to the original books. By Lionel Lacour (photo), lecturer at the Institut Lumière and documentary filmmaker.
